2026 Geopolitical Uncertainty: Resin Price Changes & Outlook

As of March 2026, as a result of geopolitical challenges, our industry is currently experiencing disruption in global energy markets. These challenges are raising energy prices and are having a significant impact on the cost of key raw materials used in our pipe and fittings, as well as transportation through fuel surcharges.

EMCO is doing its best to mitigate through its extensive inventory but unless external conditions lessen, this will only last a few more weeks. We are hoping this can help our customers complete current and upcoming projects.

HDPE

There is currently much uncertainty in global fuels, chemicals, and plastics markets. Currently, there is no change to actual supply / production, but we have seen multiple updates regarding pricing. Resin products have announced significant increases starting March 2026, which EMCO will only be able to mitigate against for orders / projects going within the next month. Unfortunately, HDPE resins have already seen +30% increases with estimated greater 20% remaining for the foreseeable future.

PVC

In addition to HDPE, PVC resins have seen roughly 9% increases — early conversations are hinting at a possible additional 5–10% coming. No currently impacting supply or production, just material cost for pipe.

60″ Corrugated HDPE (N-12)

Over the Christmas Break, our team successfully delivered 6 FTLs of 60″ Corrugated HDPE for the Ministry of Transportation BC.

This was an urgent 1-day turnaround delivery in order to ensure the highway remained operational!

Ministry of Transportation had requested 64″ HDPE Solid, but with the lead-times of manufacturing, the EMCO team was able to deliver 6 FTLs of 60″ Corrugated HDPE (ADS N-12) that would allow for the same required internal flow. The biggest challenge was working with 6 truckers that could deliver over the holidays.

Custom Perforated Schedule 80 Pipe

EMCO was able to supply over 1,000′ of perforated Schedule 80 pipe to replace a line previously installed in 1996. Schedule 80 was necessary due to load ratings. This spec was recognized by the client on-site and required a quick turnaround to avoid delays and downtime.

The team at EMCO was able to perforate the pipe on-site within 2 days.
